Cinven is one of Europe’s largest and most established private equity firms. Cinven has been investing since 1977 and has completed transactions valued in excess of €160 billion. An adverse result of this is that Cinven’s reputable brand may from time to time be fraudulently misused by malicious external parties who publish fake websites or job advertisements or who use non-authentic email accounts or phone numbers claiming to be affiliated with Cinven, in order to scam people for personal information or money. These actions are committed by unauthorised persons who are not associated with Cinven and use continuously evolving fraudulent tactics to convince victims to share personal information. As such, Cinven is not responsible for the consequences of any of these fraudulent activities. Cinven does not authorise any misuse of its name, brand, or reputation, and does not tolerate fraudulent activity.

When communicating with Cinven through digital media, please:

  • Ensure that you are using Cinven’s only authorised website which is https://www.cinven.com/ when accessing information.
  • Only respond to ‘Cinven’ emails sent from an authorised Cinven e-mail address and only send emails intended for Cinven employees or representatives to Cinven authorised email addresses. A Cinven authorised email address will end with ‘@Cinven.com’.
  • Be aware that fraudulent emails often seek to replicate a typical Cinven email in order to appear to have come from Cinven. View emails with caution and take extra care and attention prior to clicking on links or opening attachments. These links may redirect you to a non-Cinven site, and these attachments may include malware or other harmful content.
  • Be cautious if you receive an unsolicited telephone call from anyone purporting to be affiliated with Cinven; it is possible that any such call is fraudulent or ‘spoofed’ (originating from a different phone number to that display). In such circumstances, you should not provide any information. If you regularly deal with a Cinven employee or representative, please consider calling such Cinven person directly on their work number, or through the main reception number of the relevant Cinven entity.
  • Only deal with Cinven personnel affiliated with an authorised office, the locations of which are listed on our website here: https://www.cinven.com/site-tools/cinven-offices/.
  • Bear in mind that Cinven does not engage with retail investors or offer retail investment products to the general public – either directly or through any kind of intermediary.
  • Cinven will never ask you to solicit payment of funds or wiring of funds over the phone, email, or text.

Known specific cases:

Cinven has received reports of a number of fraudulent cases taking place in India and South Korea. Cinven is not, and never has been, invested nor operationally present in the Indian or the South Korean market and is not fundraising for investment opportunities in either location. It has also come to our attention that certain individuals are falsely impersonating several members of staff. Under dishonest pretences, they might try to gain access to your personal information or money, by offering investment opportunities or similar propositions. Please be vigilant if you receive an unexpected or unverified solicitation in their names.
