European private equity firm, Cinven, today announces the appointment of three new partners and two principals in its London, Paris and Frankfurt teams. All appointments are effective immediately.

Caspar Berendsen, Partner
Caspar joined Cinven in 2003 as a member of the Business and financial services sector team. He has worked on a number of transactions including Maxeda, Truvo and Ziggo. Prior to this, Caspar worked at JP Morgan in London advising Dutch and Belgian clients in a variety of sectors. Caspar holds a Masters degree in Mining and Petroleum Engineering from the Technical University Delft, the Netherlands, and is a graduate in Business Administration of the Erasmus University, Rotterdam.

Matthew Sabben-Clare, Partner
Matthew joined Cinven in 2005 from Merrill Lynch where he worked for five years in the leveraged finance team. Since joining Cinven he has been involved in a number of transactions including Gala Coral Group, Ziggo, Ahlsell and Avio and now heads up Cinven’s specialist debt team. Matthew is a graduate of Cambridge University and is AMCT-qualified.

Xavier Geismar, Partner
Xavier joined Cinven in 2001 and has worked on a number of transactions including Amadeus, Numéricable and Camaieu. He is a member of the Retail, leisure and consumer sector team. He was previously a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group in Paris. Prior to this he worked for Bankers Trust in London. Xavier is a graduate of the HEC School of Management in Paris.

Alexis le Marié, Principal
Alexis joined Cinven in 2005 and has worked on a number of transactions including NCP, Avio and Coor. He is a member of the Business and financial services team. Previously, he worked at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice in London. Prior to this, Alexis was at Goldman Sachs for two years, where he worked on a number of transactions in the Healthcare sector. Alexis is a graduate of the École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris.

Christoph Hobo, Principal
Christoph joined Cinven in 2004 and is a member of the Healthcare sector team. Prior to joining Cinven he was at UBS in London where he worked in the Investment Banking Division and the Hotel and Leisure coverage team. Christoph graduated from the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel with a Diploma in Business Administration and Finance.
